Chelsea, Morgan, and I explored the possibility of using virtual field trips in our future classrooms. We walk you through two examples (one for a Kindergarten class and the other for a Grade 8 class) and give some suggestions on how to incorporate it into your classroom. I believe the key to making this feel like a field trip, rather than just another educational video, would be making the entire day/class extra special by decorating your classroom, providing treats that coordinate with the theme, and/or dressing up. I’m a huge fan of this idea as it will fit nicely into my “Fun Fridays.” I plan on creating field trip “passports” where the students mark off where they went that day, so that they’re able to keep track of our trips throughout the year.
